Rafael Nadal Takes Home 2013 Cincinnati Title
The winner of the 2013 Western and Southern Cincinnati Masters is none other than Rafael Nadal, defeating John Isner in a 7-6(8), 7-6(3) win and bringing the tennis player to world number two from number three in the ranks. The win is Nadal’s 59th of his career but is the first of nine tries at the Cincinnati Open played on hardcourts.
The lose for Isner will actually bring his ranking up from 22 to 14 in the world. The two players are preparing themselves for the US Open (the last Grand Slam of the Year), which will be underway beginning on Aug. 26, 2013 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, NY. The tournament will run through Sept. 9, 2013.
For the women’s singles, Victoria Azarenka defeated Serena Williams in Cincinnati in a 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(8-6) win which makes it her first Cincinnati Masters title.
