Petra Kvitova And Novak Djokovic Take Wimbledon Titles
Czech tennis player Petra Kvitova has taken home the women’s title in the 2014 Wimbledon Tennis Tournament with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Eugenie Bouchard of Canada. The win is Kvitova’s second Wimbledon Championship in her career and was the quickest singles final for the women in 31 years with only 55 minutes of play. Kvitova defeated Maria Sharapova in 2011 with a 6-3, 6-4 win which makes her tied with Venus Williams and Serena Williams with each of them winning the Wimbledon Championship twice. The victory brings Petra up to No. 4.
In the men’s final, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has defeated Swiss tennis player Roger Federer in a 6-7(7-9), 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 6-4 also making it his second Wimbledon title in his career. The win is his seventh Grand Slam title to date. His victory puts him back at No. 1 after he lost to Rafael Nadal in the 2014 French Open and the 2013 US Open. The Serb beat Rafael Nadal in 2011 on the courts at Wimbledon for his first Wimbledon title.
