Nadal, Halep win 2018 Rogers Cup
Just after midnight and following a rain-filled day, Rafael Nadal won his fourth Rogers Cup trophy in a 6-2, 7-6(4) win over Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece. Hoping to celebrate his twentieth birthday with a win, Tsitsipas was very disappointed. The win marks Nadal’s 80th title, 33rd Masters 1000 series title (an Open Era record) and his fifth title of 2018.
In the men’s doubles tournament, the winners were No. 2 seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers in a 6-2, 6-7(7), [10-6] triumph over unseeded duo of Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus.
In the women’s tournament, Simona Halep defeated Sloane Stephens 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-2 in the women’s singles final of the Rogers Cup 2018.
The women’s doubles tournament winners were Ashleigh Barty and Demi Schuurs defeating Makarova and Latisha Chan in the final, 4–6, 6–3, [10–8].
