Maria Sharapova Wins BNP Paribas Open Title
Maria Sharapova defeated Caroline Wozniacki in her first big win of the year at the BNP Paribas Open in a 6-2, 6-2 final. The title paid her $1 million and is now 11 straight years where she has won at least one title going back to 2003.
Rafael Nadal also won the BNP Paribas Open Title against Juan Martin del Potro with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win also earning $1 million.
In the doubles finals, the Bryan brothers defeated Treat Huey of the Philippines and Jerzy Janowicz of Poland making it their first BNP Paribas Open title with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 win on Saturday, March 16, 2013.
