Djokovic & Kerber win 2016 Australian Open
The world’s number one female tennis player, Serena Williams, had a huge upset at the 2016 Australian Open. Angelique Kerber stunned everyone with a win over Williams on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 in a final of 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. The win is German tennis player Kerber’s first grand-slam victory. She has been among the top ten tennis players for the last four years.
In the men’s final, Serbian’s tennis player, Novack Djokovic won his sixth Australian Open by beating Scottish player Andy Murray in a 6-1, 7-5, 7-6 defeat. The win for Djokovic brings him a total of eleven Grand Slam victories which ties him with Rod Laver of Australia and Bjorn Borg of Sweden. It is the sixth Australian Open win for Djokovic which keeps him on a perfect streak for every Australian final he has played in.
