Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina defeated number one player from Switzerland Roger Federer at the 2018 BNP Paribas Open in a 6-4, 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (7-2) victory, breaking Roger’s winning streak in 2018. Federer is the oldest No. 1 player in ATP history at 36 years old. Federer will remain No. 1 entering the upcoming 2018 Miami Open in late March.
In the Women’s tournament, rising star Naomi Osaka from Japan beat Daria Kasatkina of Russia in a 6-3, 6-2 final. The 20 year old Naomi is the youngest winner of the BNP Paribas Open since 2008 when Ana Ivanovic won.
