Azarenka Withdraws From Italian Open
During the second round Wednesday evening, Victoria Azarenka decided to make the decision to withdraw from her match with Dominika Cibulkova after winning 6-1, 6-2 match with Shahar Peer of Israel, because of a right shoulder injury.
Victoria lost the Madrid Open title to Serena Williams on Sunday but has won four titles already this year.
Withdrawing from the Italian Open will advance Dominika Cibulkova, 14th seed and her scheduled opponent for Thursday, May 17, automatically to the quarterfinals.
The next grand slam tournament will begin on May 27, 2012, which is the French Open.
